Worth

What did I decide I was worth, and how old was I when I decided?

Worth is rarely a thought. It is the temperature of the room when we ask for something.

Most of what we believe about our worth was written by people who never had us in mind. We inherited their accounting.

Worth is not earned by being useful. It is recognised — first by us, then by the rooms we walk into.

Reflection

  • — When did I last feel worthy without doing anything to earn it?
  • — Whose voice tells me I am too much, or not enough?
