Receiving

What do I refuse to receive that the world keeps offering?

Giving is easier than receiving for many of us, because receiving costs us our defences.

We deflect kindness with humour, deflect help with capability, deflect attention with shrugs. The branch of receiving grows starved.

Receiving is not greed. It is permission for the field to feed us back.

Reflection

  • — When did I last let someone help me without making it small?
  • — What am I withholding from myself that I would freely give to a friend?
