Identity

Who am I beneath the descriptions other people use for me?

Identity is the story we keep telling because it is the one we have learned. It is not the only true one.

We grow attached to our descriptions — the strong one, the easy one, the smart one — because they explain us. They also confine us.

Identity is allowed to be in motion. The trunk is not a statue.

Reflection

  • — Which of my labels do I keep wearing out of loyalty to who I used to be?
  • — What would change if I removed one description today?
