Money Tree Within · Neglected Branch

Guilt

Whose guilt am I carrying that was never mine?

Some guilt is a teacher. Most is a hand-me-down.

We learn very young that to feel guilty is to be "a good person". We start collecting it like proof.

The branch of guilt grows neglected when we cannot tell the difference between accountability and self-punishment.

Reflection

  • — Which guilt belongs to me, and which one am I storing for someone else?
  • — If I forgave myself for it tonight, what would I do tomorrow?
